He supported the Royalist cause in the English Civil War but his ambition and instability of character caused serious problems to himself and the Kings he served. Pp.286, 2 portrait plates, library label to inside front board, occasional library stamps. Dark blue cloth, gilt title to spine, remains of old paper label to spine, wear to top and tail and spine edges. Good.
