Description: London: The Religious Tract Society, nd. (c.1873). Lord Macaulay referred to Bunyan's 'Grace Abounding' as" one of the most remarkable pieces of Autobiography in the world". This book has the text of 'Grace Abounding' with the addition of his 'relation' of his arrest and trial plus the story of his wife's appearance before Sir Matthew Hale on his behalf. Following the concluding section of 'Grace Abounding' there is a brief Continuation of the biography from the point at which Bunyan's autobiography breaks off. This was probably written by his friend Charles Doe. 25cms x 19cms. Pp.142, engraved portrait frontispiece + small engraving of the cottage on Elstow Green to title page + 18 further engraved illustrations, toning to endpapers but otherwise clean throughout. Decorated green cloth, gilt decorated title to spine, minor edge wear. VG.
