Ornate decoration on spine, simple decoration across corners, short split on upper front joint of volume 1, light wear at ends of other joints. Paper on covers is rubbed. Paper covering front inner hinge on volume I is cracked but cover is firmly attached and all other aspects on the binding are sound. Pages are clean. All plates and folded map are present and attached, most have protective tissue leaves attached, there is some foxing to some of them.
