Paper covered boards, illustrated on the front, plain white on the rear with plain green linen spine. Landscape format pages are printed single side only and folded along what forms the leading edge and bound in the gutter with three large heavy-duty staples. Each " leaf" comprises a paragraph or two of text on one side and a colour full-page illustration on the other. The covers are darkened and lightly marked and are rubbed at the edges. The text block is wholly detached from the covers. Torn rear end-paper is attached to the rear cover, front end-paper is missing. Half-title page is darkened with "LIONEL" written in ink (overspilt by water) in upper left corner. Pages and plates are clean and bright. Contains many colour plates (full page illustrations).
