A volume from the 'Cookes pocket edition' series, tightly bound in brown half leather over marbled paper on boards, gilt titles and decorative bands at the spine; general wear to edges, inked name & date (Anne Spence, 1846) on front endpaper, name repeated in pencil on pastedown, [Myles] Birket Foster's monogrammed bookplate on the front pastedown. 288 pages, engravings on plates, introductory life of the poet. Has an engraved title page dated 1799, but it is possible that it may be a later reprint. Good with No dust jacket as issued.
