Charles Major, (1869 - 1938) a school master who keen on military matters from a young age and in 1897 founded the College Rifles Volunteers, serving with distinction in the Boer War where he was made a Colonel. He returned to Auckland and bought the King's College property in Remuera and then the property at Middlemore which was completed while he was serving in the First World War, in 1917. He retired from the position of Headmaster in 1926.CONDITION Burgundy card wraps, signed by Author at title page, ownership name inside,103 pages with some photo illus. Nice crisp copy with original receipt laid in. Spine and strip top front faded,small stain to bottom cnr of last page. Very Good. Signed by Author.
