Description: London, Jonathan Cape. 1937, First Edition. Hard Cover with dust jacket, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Grenville (1542 - 1591), was lord of the manors in Cornwall and Devon, a soldier, sailor, colonizer, and explorer. He took part in the early English attempts to settle the New World, and also participated in the fight against the Spanish Armada. CONDITION Claret coloured cloth with bright gilt title and crest (cnrs a little curved otherwise clean and unworn) publishers burgundy stain top edge of pages, PP 363 with 8 illus plates and a fold out map of the battle of Flores. Early depictions of American Indians. Copy is very bright and crisp with light spotting at ends and pages opposing plates due to differing paper types. Tidy name to first blank and half title. DJ has tears at spine ends and tips, toned though not price clipped. Overweight. Near Fine/Good.
