Description: New Zealand, Whitcombe & Tombes. 1946, 2nd Impression. Cloth, 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Joshua Williams 1837 - 1915 Lawyer, politician, judge, university chancellor. He qualified with honours at Cambridge emigrating to NZ in 1861. From 1895 to 1898 Williams served as first president of the Court of Arbitration, which had been established by the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1894. In 1914 Joshua Williams retired to England, where he became New Zealand's first permanent resident representative on the Privy Council. CONDITION Title is rare especially in cloth bds, it is usually found in card wraps. Green cloth, unworn though bds are very slightly bowed, 112 pages with portrait frontis and facsimile letter bound in. Bright and crisp with 3 name stamps near front and date stamp to ffep. #New Zealand Biography#. Very Good/No Jacket.
