Folio [36 x 26cm] Handsome grained blue leather with 5mm wide raised bands to spine with gilt decorations to compartments & bands of spine + blind tooling and eleven gilt rules with gilt corner ornaments to both covers and gilt turn-ins [Corners a bit bumped/some rubbing to gilt edges/ some minor scratches/ neatly rebacked to spine with original spine laid on] All page edges gilt. Frontis + titlepage + Dedication with Prince Regent's feathers within rays surroundinga and handsomely engrossed with differen fonts + [v-viii Preface] + [2p] subscribers list with 10 Royal Highnesses & 162 subscribers + binders directions + errata + 60 text leaves to face the plates. One plate is misbound with the "Tournament in XV century" but its text is present earlier in the book. The plates are beautifully coloured with full background scenes, many have several figures per plate, some show shipping scenes, others battle scenes, also tournaments, riders, encampments etc. There are often small coloured coat-of-arms to the foot of the plates. One plate has feint off-setting to the opposite page and the plate of the Trumpeters performing in concert has a one inch tear to the blank margin which is repaired on the blank verso,and there is also a bit of dusting to this page's edge. The book is otherwise in clean, tight and bright condition.
