Description: Amsterdam, Henricum Wetstenium 1692 Engraved plates [26 incl. engraved titlepage as frontis.] + engraved printer's mark with emblematic motto . 4to tan speckled leather with floral rule along hinge. spine on 5 raised bands + gilt spine label [hinges split but held by bands/ foot of spind chipped/ corners sl.worn] Engraved pictorual titlepage + printed titlepage in red & black + [4p=dedication] + [4p=Preface] + [2p=editions of Diogenes] +[2p=philosophers treat in this volume] + 672pp. This volume deals with the Male philosophers with many portraits there was a second volume about women philosophers but it was unillustrated and is not here present. The text is in Greek and latin parallel columns with the footnotes mostly in latin. A very clean tight copy with a few leaves with marginal edge tanning but no foxing, no underlining or annoatations and no torn or loose pages.
