Spine split in two. There is no wear and tear to text. Signature on Frontispiece dated 1977, another on titlepage dated 1736. No annotations or underlining and text entirely legible and pages sound. A scarce edition and One of the Best Illustrated Editions. *Contains an excellent map of Alexander`s empire. The first of this edition of Curtius`s History of Alexander the Great was published in 1648, all copies derive from an Aachen transcription during the Carolingian Renaissance. The identity of Curtius is not fully known, although he may have been a Consul to Emperor Claudius.
