With the original flying storks for which the Alsace is known on the endpapers. *Written because the author remembers his student days at the German school at Colmar when the Professor was continually denegrating the Frence student and forced them to learn only about the great history of Prussia. Accordingly, during the First World War, Waltz has written this book to teach about the great history of the Alsace not through the eyes of the Germans (who had controlled Alsace since 1871 - "L Annee Terrible") but through the eyes of the French. Begins in the Gallic period, ending with the beginning of WW1 rallying against German imperialism "let us hope for better days my children; because the future does not belong to the good lord and not to the ugly man who is a pan-Germanist". Excellent copy.
