Last plate in vol.1 is slightly soiled and wrinkled and was sewn in at an angle thus margins are not all equal. There is a brown stain to the gutter side at the front of volume one diminishing within the preliminaries but still affects the gutter margin of the first 24 pages but never encroaching on any of the actual plates except for the portrait and the engraved titlepage. There is rather less foxing/dusting than usual with the paper in crisp neat condition and there are MANY FINE FOLDING AQUATINT VIEWS & interesting hunting & shooting observations. Also nice vignettes [the final one in vol 2 printed upside down} actually several more than are listed in the vignette list. Some scattered plates in vol.2 have some pale foxing but most plates are free of any foxing. A well illustrated set.* Thomas Thornton was a famous sportsman of the Napoleonic Era, on his visits to France he presented Napoleon with a pair of Durs Egg pistols.
