Description: London, T. & W. Lowndes 2nd edition 1784 Copperplates (12+supplement plate)+ folding table . Octavo late 19th/early 20th century green buckram spine gilt lettered (tips rubbed/sl.marked) xxiii + p + 412pp. Half title & Titlepage damaged & soiled and mounted on a support paper. Preface pages also repaired with translucent paper tape mainly to gutter. These pages are soft and a bit fragile but entirely readable. The contents pages and the entirety of the text and all the plates are in clean and good condition. All the plates & tables are also on strong,firm good quality paper. *Detailed use of the various surveying instruements of the time and the working of examples via set problems is the method of teaching adopted by this teacher of mathematics.
