Small quarto recent grey card covers, 80pp. Lacks Titlepage, [2]pp (Dedication) and xi (Preface), but has 2nd Title and text of 3 Cantos complete in 80 pages, thus matching only the J. Stagg third edition of 1740. Text clean and crisp throughout. *The poet William Somerville "came of an ancient family long settled at Aston-Somerville, Gloucestershire" (DNB). His most famous production was The Chase (1735), closely followed by Hobbinol in 1740 - a burlesque poem in 3 Cantos of blank verse, dedicated to Hogarth. It describes rural games set in the Vale of Evesham (referenced by ESTC T68687; D.F. Foxon, English Verse 1701-1750, S573).
