Curious Mystery of the Eleventh Hour
New York, NY: Harry N. Abrams, Inc, 1989. First Edition. Hardcover, Pictorial. Illustrated by Base, Graeme. An elephant's eleventh birthday party is marked by eleven games preceding the banquet to be eaten at the eleventh hour, but when the time to eat arrives, the birthday feast has disappeared. The reader is invited to guess the thief. At the end of the book is a sealed 7-page "Inside Story" that gives the solution as well as detailed explanations of all the clues and puzzles in the illustrations. For detective types, if one determines who may have stolen the feast, there is a page on which the name of the thief can be used to decode a hidden message which tells one who stole the feast and how it was done. Gift inscription on the ffep. The jacket has several large and small tears and wrinkles, repaired as well as possible. Includes a protective cover. The binding corners show minor to moderate wear; the spine tail is damaged.
