, The All New, All Women, All Boogie Ways of Meringue. A Little More Lesbian Dance Club/Bar Event Flier
The All New, All Women, All Boogie Ways of Meringue. A Little More Lesbian Dance Club/Bar Event Flier
San Francisco, A Little More, Publisher. Unbound. no date, perhaps early 1980s. Single sheet, 8 ½ by 11 inches. Printed on a single side only. A flier/handbill advertising Ways of Meringue, which was perhaps a band or a dance group, performing March 9th at A Little More. A Little More was a lesbian dance club/bar in San Franciso on 15th at Potrero. Various online sources indicate the club opened in the early 1980s, although the flier and the word "boogie" suggests this may be late 1970s. GOOD condition. This was obviously stapled up somewhere at some point, with rips and small tears at the corners, as well as a 1 inch triangle missing from the top right corner, and a small piece missing from the bottom left corner. Minor toning and wrinkling. Good .

The East Village Other W/Stonewall Inn Riot Account. July 9, 1969. Vol. 4. , No. 32
New York, East Village Other, Publisher, 1969. Tabloid. Side folding tabloid newspaper. 20 pp. Black and white illustrations and comix throughout. East Village Other was an underground newspaper from New York (duh), known for its early embrace of the counterculture and counterculture aesthetics, often using absurdist pieces to provide social commentary. As an early proponent of the underground comix movement, EVO published work by R. Crumb, Trina Robbins and others, as well as publishing a paper devoted to comix. This issue with an almost full page, first person account of the Stonewall Inn riots. Written by Ronnie Di Brienza, a self-proclaimed musician and "freak," the piece recounts events leading up to the riots, and with some foresight, anticipates that a movement may have begun. Despite claiming to be a friend of the LBGTQ+ community, and asserting the he liked both men and women, Di Brienza uses a variety of slurs when referring to the gay community. The Stonewall Inn riots began on June 28th, as a result from continued police harassment. These events have been viewed as a turning point in the gay liberation movement. The site was made a national monument in 2016. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning. Paper a bit brittle, with a 2 inch split at the center spine, and a two inch tear at the center rear edge. Mailing label present. Good .
