Engraved title pages dated 1822-23, but letterpress title pages both dated 1824. 100 engraved portraits, with a short biographical sketch of each, in English and French. Heraldic library label to front pastedowns of William Fuller Maitland of Stansted Hall (1844-1932,) Liberal politician and cricketer. Boards are detached to both volumes, and the volume label to vol. 1. is missing. Some foxing, heavier in places. Royalty, politicians and men of the arts and sciences. [781]. Good.
