Book, oblong quarto, cloth spine, unpaginated, (28) pp. line illustrations, with revolving disk on the cover showing 10 scenes in full color, from a series of six titles published by De Wolfe, Fiske and Company, Boston. The company was founded in Boston in 1880. During the last decade of the 19 th C the firm produced many juveniles with large chromoliths. VERY RARE. covers show overall light soil, edges are worn , piece missing from lower foreedge of rear cover, loose in binding, cover illustrations on cover show some wear, Vovelle.. a paper disk attached behind a cover,when the disk is rotated it reveals alternative pieces of information on the cover page. He was a landscape artist as well as a book illustrator. His drawings for this title help tell the story of three English gentlemen; Jones, Johnson, and Jakes who make a wager who would catch the heaviest fish. The illustrations convey the spirit of the verse very well showing great talent. Jessie Pope 1868 - 1941) was known as a patriotic English poet, writer and journalist, best known for her patriotic motivational poems published during WW !
