Garnet. Some of the views are of Windermere, Newby Bridge, Grasmere, Brothers' Water and Ulswater. With publisher adverts to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart with some fading to the spine and bumping to the extremities and head and tail of the spine. Some marks to the boards. Front and rear hinges are starting and loosening, front free endpaper is loose. Internally, generally firmly bound with generally bright pages with some scattered spots to the plates. Good . Illustrated with a hand-colored title page vignette and 48 hand-colored aquatint plates drawn by Fielding, and Walton during a two years residence among the lakes. One of only 850 copies printed of what is considered the greatest illustrated book on the Lake District. Text and plates clean with only occasional offsetting from the text to the plates. A beautiful volume looking at the picturesque views of the Lake District.Including views of Windermere Lake, Bownes from Belle Isle, Esthwaite Water, Wray Castle, Furness Abbey, the waterfall at Lodore, and more. Illustrated with an engraved title, and twenty-six plates. Collated, complete.Drawn and engraved by William Banks.Undated, dated from Jisc from a copy held at the University of Edinburgh Library. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few light marks and a little light rubbing to the cloth. Small amount of loss of cloth to the head of the rear board. Small patch of cockling to the front board. Front hinge is starting but firm. Tidemark to the paste downs and endpapers. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots. Good . Ill.: William Banks. Good .
