COMMISSION OF INQUIRY ON WAR CRIMINALS
Commission of Inquiry on War Criminals Report, Part 1 (One): Public, 30 December 1986
Canada: Commission of Inquiry on War Criminals, 1986. First Edition. Paperback. ISBN: 0660121727. 966 pages. Bibliography. Lists of Documents, Primary and Secondary Sources. List of cases cited. "Includes 822 opinions on individual cases." - from page iv. "Between 1971 and 1986, public statements by outside interveners concerning alleged war criminals residing in Canada have spread increasingly large and grossly exaggerated figures as to their estimated number. Even leaving aside the figure of 6,000 ventured in 1986 by Mr. Simon Wiesenthal, and before a detailed examination of each of the cases appearing on the Commission's Master List, this list already shows no less than a 400 per cent over-estimate by the proponents of those figures." - from page 249. In one instance, government resources were used to investigate the allegation that a certain individual was the infamous Dr. Mengele. The Commission determined this individual had different coloured eyes than the doctor and stood 6'-3", whereas Dr. Mengele was only 5'-8" in height. Average wear. Binding intact. Reading creases to spine. Unmarked but for light pencil tick marks in bibliography. Numerous page corners were folded. Prior owner was a smoker. A sound working copy.; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall; Commission of Inquiry on War Criminals Nazi Hunters World War 1939-1945 Canada Simon Wiesenthal James Deschenes Dr. Mengele German. Good .

HOWE SAMUEL GRIDLEY,; UNITED STATES. AMERICAN FREEDMEN'S INQUIRY COMMISSION
Report to the Freedmen's Inquiry Commission, 1864 : the refugees from slavery in Canada West
Boston & New York, Boston Wright & Potter New York Arno Press. 1969, reprint of the 1864 ed. Hardcover, 8 vo. Book, cloth, 110 pages, some toning to edges of cover, ex lib w/ink stamp on t.p. reprint of the 1864 ed. published under title: The refugees from slavery in Canada West... 'the United States Freedmen's Inquiry Commission made an investigation, through one of its members, of the condition of the colored population of Canada West," "This pamphlet contains the result of inquiries and observations made during the investigation. At any time but this, an apology might be necessary for putting forth, in such a hasty and crude form, the observations and speculations which it contains. But now, when every body is asking what shall be done with the negroes, -- and many are afraid that they cannot take care of themselves if left alone, -- an account of the manner in which twenty thousand are taking care of themselves in Canada, may be interesting, even if it be imperfect, and contain superflous speculations" --. Very Good.
