Man 1987&apos. Illustrated with forty-nine black-and-white photographs by Edwin Smith throughout the text, some of which are full-page.This is a lovely work by Ronald Blythe, which is described as 'a pilgrimage in words and photographs to the enchanted places of Britain&apos. The author visited a range of different villages, towns, and coastlines as well as the homes of notable writers such as George Crabbe and John Clare. Contents include 'Where Priests in Black Gowns Were Walking Their Rounds', 'The Sacred Shore', 'The Black Map', and 'How to Make a Pilgrimage without Leaving Home&apos. Written by Ronald Blythe, an English writer, essayist, and editor. He is best known for his work 'Akenfield' (1969), as well as his weekly column within the Church Times, which was titled 'Word from Wormingford&apos. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. Light bumping to the extremities, particularly to the rear board, as well as the head and tail of spine. Fading to the top edge of boards. Dust wrapper is very smart, with age-toning to the margins of wraps including the fly leaves and the reverse. A bit of edge wear to the top edge of wraps, with a small closed tear to the top edge of wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Very Good . Ill.: Edwin Smith.
