Half-bound in black leather decoratively stamped in gilt on the spines and boards. Pp. 600 + 598 + 30 full-page monochrome plates across the two volumes. All edges gilt. Printed book plate on each front free endpaper else a clean, unmarked and tightly bound set without dust jackets (as issued). Light rubbing to the leather at the corners and the joints. The upper joint of volume II is somewhat weakened. The plates and the gilt edges are remarkably bright. Very good .

A couple of other plates in vol. I have indentations from erased pencil scribbles, but the rest fine. Some scattered foxing, mostly on prelims.
