The first edition of this very scarce work.Illustrated with a frontispiece, and nineteen plates.A charming topographical volume on Kingston-upon-Hull, exploring the city through "historical gleanings and personal recollections".Written by John Symons, who was Sheriff of Hull, and published numerous works on the city.Collated, bound without the map. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, a little worn. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, resulting in a small amount of loss of cloth, and lifting to the head of the spine. Cloth to the rear joint is lifting. Spine and extremities are discoloured. Light marks to the boards and spine, heavier to the fore edge of the front board. Hinges are strained. Library label to the front paste down. Bound without endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with a few scattered spots and handling marks. Frontispiece and a couple of plates are working loose a little.
