(Marshall, John)
Initial report on the Supreme Court decision, McCulloch v. Maryland. Published under the title, "Sovereignty of the States" in Niles Weekly Register (March 13, 1819)
Baltimore, 1819. First Edition. 0 pp. Disbound. This issue is in generally fine condition with light foxing and minor roughness along the disbound edge. The Niles' Weekly Register took up a position against the Supreme Court's decision in this case. McCulloch v. Maryland is generally recognized as Marshall's most important opinion due to the sanction of the implied powers of Congress and the recognition that "the power to tax involves the power to destroy.". Near Fine.
