Contemporary boards for volumes 1-12 (1-4; 5-8 marbled, black morocco label with gilt title on the spine; 9-12 black marbled with handwritten green label on the spine), and original printed wrappers for the Schlussbericht. = Rare local geology and mining journal form Austria, and the successor of the Berichte des Geognostisch-montanistischer Vereines für Innerösterreich und das Land ob der Enns (Steiermark). Some wear to board extremities, wrapper soiled, with a small chip; old library stamps on title pages and table versos (with some offsetting), otherwise good.

Original printed, pictorial blue wrappers. = Very rare, ephemeral and anonymous booklet on billiard sports, or cue sports. Twenty-one different games are described. This is followed by a glossary and an index. Some terms are still in use today, others have become obsolete or are entirely forgotten. Written in Dutch. We found no other copies anywhere on the internet. OCLC does not report any copy - not even in the Netherlands. Light spotting to the wrappers; partly torn at spine fold; otherwise a very good, clean and unmarked copy.

Germany, ca. 1800. Book-like brass box with morocco-covered spine (8.5 x 3.8 x 1.9 cm). = A fine "bookalike", being a brass box with green armadillo-skin inlays and gilted brass ornaments. "Spine" with brown morocco compartments and brass raised bands; the middle one with a small knob. Gilt edges. A very nice and handsome item. Perfect for small jewelry, as it is a small jewel itself. Some light age-wear, otherwise in fine condition. A unique item.

[Brooklyn Botanic Garden]
Brooklyn Botanic Garden Contributions. 1-151.
Brooklyn, NY, Brooklyn Botanical Garden [and other places and publishers], 1911-1957. 150 papers in five volumes. Near uniform green buckram with gilt title on the spines. = A rarely seen complete set of the first 150 contributions to botany published by staff members and associates of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. In 1897, New York State legislation reserved 39 acres for a botanic garden, and in 1910 the Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) was founded with botanist Charles Stuart Gager as director. The Olmsted Brothers company of landscape architects laid out the original site plan (see the BBG website). Today, the Garden comprises 52 acres. The papers were published over a long period and in a wide range of periodicals, including some with a rather limited distribution. The first three volumes thick, octavo-sized, the fourth 4to sized, but otherwise identical; the fifth somewhat larger still, with a simpler gilt title (reflecting changing tastes over time) on the spine. All with a library label on the spine foot, and on the front pastedowns a pictorial bookplate or stamp of the Kansas State University Library. Individual papers often with an acquisition stamp on the front wrapper or first text leaf. Top edges soiled, otherwise a very good, clean set.

Papers are mostly of local (northeastern U.S.A.) interest. The volumes 2, 8, and 9 are complete. After volume 9, the format was changed. Stamp on front wrappers, otherwise a good, clean set.

As far as we know this is all that was published.

It deals with trees and shrubs from all over the world, with some emphasize on European taxa. All parts are rare, especially the early volumes. A very good, clean and unmarked set. Not in Cat. Uniform late 19th-century pebbled cloth; spines with black morocco label with gilt title. Marbled endpapers. Speckled edges. = The seldom-seen start of this well-illustrated Belgian botanical series. From Volume 6 onwards, the name was changed from Bulletins to Bulletin. Slight shelf-wear to a few volumes, one affecting a shield, but generally in good condition, internally clean, with neither library markings, nor foxing or toning. The only indications of a previous owner are the small gilt initials F.D.J.N. (Bibliothèque Feuilles des Jeunes Naturalistes) at each spine foot, and a library stamp of Adrien Dollfus - most probably the French zoologist and carcinologist Adrien Frédéric Jules Dollfus (1858-1921), editor of the Feuilles - on the title of volume five. Slight wear to spine covers; some light, marginal damp-staining in a few places; Volumes 21-25, however, with a little more, mostly marginal, damp-staining and more wear to several spines.
