Overall in reasonable condition. * The organisation Oeuvre des Écoles d'Orient was established in 1856 by the mathematician Augustin Cauchy and the egyptologist Charles Lenormant, professors of the Collège de France. Its aim was to support the Christian communities in the Lebanon, later in more countries in the Middle East. In 1931 the organisation changed its name to Oeuvre d'Orient and now (in 2023) is supporting Christians in 23 Eastern Countries, through schools, social care and cultural projects.
