Doggie Pranks
New York, Merrimack Publishing Corporation, n.y. Paperback. Small 4to. Stiff glazed pictorial wrappers. (14pp). Illustrations (some color). Near fine. Undated modern (circa 1980s) "Replica of the Antique Original" of this late 19th century unidentified edition, with the top edge diecut to reflect the contour of the head of the cute pooch on the front wrapper. Just a facsimile, but charming, featuring puppy-themed poems such as "The Hospitable Hostess," "Bandying Reproaches," "The Editor," "The Chase," "The Vain Puppy," "What's That Noise?" and so on. The line drawings show puppies chasing kittens and similar antics, and the color illustrations imitate the look of the chromolithographed originals wonderfully. .

A volume in the LECs "Special Publications" category, not one of its annual series of 12 subscription titles -- third part (only) of this 3-part fourth volume. He contributes the delightful humorous essay "How to Look at a Book" to this issue. NEWMAN A-11. .
