Victor Gollancz LONDON. 1986, 1st Edition. (ISBN: 0575036028) Hard Cover with dust jacket, 23cm. Ill.: Edited By Alan Bishop. Heavy Book Over 500gms Ex Lib, The Thirties were a fraught, restless and a disturbed period, the years when Hitler achieved a stranglehold on Europe. Vera Brittain's stance was a staunchly pacifist one. While many of her friends on the Left urged the need for a united front against fascism, she argued the case against any resort to war, and as a supporter of Dick Sheppard's Peace Pledge Union she addressed meeting and conferences all over the country. She was active too in other areas of Left wing politics, notably in support of her husband George Catlin in his Labour Party candidatures. Good/Good.
