Beautifully decorated prize inscription on flyleaf "Herbert Minty A Reward from the Baptist Sunday School Chapmansdale by W.M.C. 1893". *Story of children helping their family to overcome adversity. Moral tale quite scarce.

FLOWERS OF THE HOLY LAND - FLEURS DE LA TERRE SAINTE - JERUSALEM
London, N P 1890 approx) 12 arrangements of flowers etc. facing page-mounted real photographs of captioned views in the photoplate . Oblong duodecimo (165x103mm) olive wood bevelled edges and carved with series of crosses with lower cover black lettered "Jerusalem" with decorated titled pink cloth spine. TP printed in blue in English and French with stylized floral border in blue. The photographs show horse drawn carriages only and unpaved roads, no buildings outside the city walls, and wooden houses at the Jaffa Gate. The pressed flowers are in good condition for their age and rather more elaborate, careful arrangements with some color retained than is usually found. There are as always a few minor losses to tips of some arrangements but all are pleasing in design.

London, Religious Tract Society 1860 approx/ Fine color plates (8) by the Baxter process printed by Kronheim heightened with gum to shine . BINDING gilt black morocco (head of spine rubbed and 1cm split to hinge/ edges rubbed) All Edges Gilt iv + 251pp lacks front endpaper. Two leaves with feint damp mark to a few margins not touching any printed area. There is isolated foxing to a few pages and a flower petal pressed into a gutter has made a mark to the neighbouring pages but not any printed area. The plates show beautiful bunches of flowers from all the continents, America to Australia, Africa to China & Japan.

J.M.H. du Pontet de la Harpe, of the French Reformed Church in Bayswater". Some few of these offerings have appeared in a magazine but most are here printed for the first time. Scarce.

[front cver v. sl.edgerubbed but entirely bright and clean] 36pp + Nister books list on 3 pages -the third being on the inside cover. Four "lick & stick transparent papers" strengthening the front and rear gutters. These can be easily removed. There is some fingering mainly to the edges.

Paris, Marchant 1842 steel engraved plates [40 as listed] byMulready, Mulready,Chalon, Faulkner,Kneller etc . Sm.4to Green blindstamped cloth spine gilt [edges rubbed,sl.marked /lower hinge with 2" split] All Edges Gilt text paper uniformly tanned. Plates on thicker paler paper but some plates have narrow edge browning and a few have pale foxing but not near to any of the images. These plates are each illustrations for characters in literature and the text accompanying each plate by authors. The verso of the half title and the title [on the recto only] have a damp tide mark. A nice gift inscription dated 1873 to a Sub-Lt. in the llth Chasseur regiment given to him by a fellow officer.Text in French

Titlepage in red and black with birds and floral decorations to all four edges + To reader + names of painters + color plate to preceed each story + 96pp with Beggar's daughter & last page with large printer's mark & 1845 date. The end of Lady Isabelle's Tragedy which follows on from Babes in the Wood has Ambrose Merton's device with a tudor rose, a beer barrel etc with AMB above MER. Only two copies on COPAC and no further copies in World Cat. There is an American edition dated 1846 all others being 20th centurys reprints. Scarce.
