Cap., 40 fine black/white plates after original photographs by Martien Coppens, featuring portraits of local people of De Peel, a poor rural district of North-Brabant Province, The Netherlands. A famous photo record featuring portraits of simple dutch peasants and their families, males and females, from the [then] economically poor district by the name of De Peel, nowadays a nature reservate, North Brabant Province, The Netherlands, which includes a 4pp. introduction by Antoon Coolen, a famous dutch author from the same district. Martien, Martinus Franciscus Josephus Coppens took his training as a photographer at the german State Academy for Photography at München, where he passed his final exam in 1930. His interest in portraying common people stayed with him during his life-time and career, thus supplying photographs of unsurpassed interest and quality. This photorecord is one of the first publications on subject-matter. Very good copy, NO dustjacet. Scarce.
