Set in the Lake District, this novel begins as the D's have been invited to stay at Beckfoot for the summer holidays while Mrs Blackett has gone on a cruise for her health. When Great Aunt Maria, unaware of the D's visit, realises the girls have been left at home, she decides to come and take care of them. Written and illustrated by Arthur Michell Ransome, an English author and journalist. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear and light fading to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is worn with light loss to the head of the spine and further loss to the rear panel. Sunning to the spine and the odd small mark. Internally, firmly bound.
