Jones was a Unitarian minister and the founder of All Souls Church, in Chicago; he also founded the Abraham Lincoln Centre, the church's community outreach program, and to which this book is dedicated, and became a prominent pacifist during WWI. Weston has compiled these selections of Jones writings under various themes -- Home, Individual, Church, Love, etc -- and notes that they "are taken chiefly from the two books in the Bits of Wayside Gospel series entitled, 'Jess' and 'A Search for an Infidel.'".
