Hardcovers consisting of two volumes uniformly bound in red cloth titled in gilt on the spines, in printed buff dust wrappers titled in red & black on the front panels and the spines. The dust jackets are soiled and slightly stained and the jackets' spines are darkened. There are short tears to the edges of the jackets and the heads & tails of the jackets' spines are chipped. 456 pages & 456 pages respectively. There is foxing to the endpapers and pastedowns of each volume with light soiling & minor foxing to the books' edges. Very good. First editions, first printings of volumes 1 & 2 of an eventual 6 volume set of the first collected edition of F. Scott Fitzgerald's works. The set was published from 1958 through 1963, with these first two volumes published in 1958 & 1959. In addition to an introduction by J.B. Priestley, volume one includes: "May Day", "The Diamond as Big as the Ritz", "The Great Gatsby", "The Crack-Up", "Crazy Sunday", and "The Last Tycoon". Volume two includes: "Tender is the Night", the "Autobiographical Pieces": "My Lost City", "Echoes of the Jazz Age", "Ring", and "Early Success", the "Letters to Frances Scott Fitzgerald", and the "Short Stories": "The Last of the Belles", "Pat Hobby Himself", "An Alcoholic Case" and "Financing Finnegan".
