The catalogue (of which this is the best issue) lists 694 lots, with introduction and indexes of books on vellum, binders, booksellers, previous owners and armorial bindings. The Abbey Collection, formed over more than fifteen years, ranked as one of the finest assemblies of illustrated printed books and fine bindings (especially British and French) in the world. It was sold progressively from 1965 onwards following Abbey's death. Most parts were issued in both Illustrated and Unillustrated Issues. The present series comprises: Part 1: 21-23 June 1965; Part 2: 14-16 November 1966; Part 3: 19-21 June 1967; Part 4: 6 November 1967; Part 5: 2 June 1970; Part 6: 19 October 1970.
