Single sheet. 44 ½ by 30 inches. A poster depicting a sketch of President Lyndon Johnson riding a bomb in similar fashion to the scene featuring Slim Pickens in Dr. Strangelove. Presumably a satirical use of Johnson's 1964 presidential campaign slogan juxtaposed against an increasingly unpopular war in Vietnam, advertising for the underground newspaper, the New York Free Press. It appears the newspaper itself was short lived, with Library of Congress records indicating it may have only published in 1968. Artwork by noted artist and illustrator, Jean Claude Suares. FAIR condition. Heavy glue stains to the reverse, which have bled through to the front, leaving many largish areas of faint brownish discoloration along the extremities. Stored rolled, with moderate creasing, curling and wrinkling. A few smaller spots of darker staining to the poster, with minor soiling. Minor bumping and chipping along the edges. Two inch slit in the poster at the upper left corner. Fair .
