Brown cloth with gilt front cover illustrations and ruling in blind. 164 pp. plus 4 pages of ads. 23 illustrations found, including 21 plates, out of 24 called for on the title page, all done by Kenney Meadows. MISSING frontis illustration. A collection of humorous and satirical essays musing on various topics. Douglas Jerrold was a 19th century British journalist and playwright, perhaps best known for his contributions to Punch magazine. Kenney Meadows was a British caricaturist, known especially for his work in Punch. FAIR condition, lacking frontispiece illustration. Heavy fading to the covers, with the gilt illustration almost entirely gone. Moderate to heavy scuffing, with some soiling and staining. Extremities bumped, scuffed and worn, with some fraying to the cloth. Interior solid, with new endpapers. Scattered moderate soiling and staining throughout, with general browning. Fair/No Jacket.
