These are the only disciplines in which men and women compete as individuals, as equals, with women winning medals as often as the men. Some of the names mentioned, and who are still active in teaching, training and/or riding are: William Steinkraus, George Morris, HIlda Gurney, Leslie Burr Howard, Anne Kursinski, Robert Dover, Carol Lavell, Michael Poulin, Michelle Gibson, Steffan Peters, Guenter Seidel, David O'Connor, Karen O'Connor, Peter Leone, et al; many of these exceptional riders are still active, still leading the way for America and winning.
