Seemingly descriptive guides to a map or series of maps, these instructional texts are full of facts and opinions of the different countries in each continent. Probably intended to include the Americas and Australasia it is not known whether the other volumes were published as no locations can be traced worldwide.

A curious collection of french words and phrases which seem to have little connection with each other but would certainly introduce interesting concepts to a child. From the banal like pomme, poire and fourchette to a dancing bear, an elephant used in a tiger hunt and a sentry box.

Old tape repair to the spine, some staining to plates, front end paper removed and the whole a little shaken. This, the presumed 1st English translation, is rare> no copies are located in the U.K. and only the U.C.L.A. copy in the U.S.A. [a later edition c. 1869]. Madame de Genlis was a French writer and educationalist who counted Louis Philippe, King of France among her pupils.
