The Battle of Marathon Krentz, Peterpublished by , 2010
New Haven, Connecticut, Yale University Press, 2010. First Edition. Hardcover. Size: 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Another fine contribution to the series, Yale Library of Military History. "For the Greeks and Romans the earth's farthest perimeter was a realm radically different from what they perceived as central and human. The alien qualities of these "edges of the earth" became the basis of a literary tradition that endured throughout antiquity and into the Renaissance, despite the growing challenges of emerging scientific perspectives. Here James Romm surveys this tradition, revealing that the Greeks, and to a somewhat lesser extent the Romans, saw geography not as a branch of physical science but as an important literary genre." Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound in hardcover format, generally clean, lightly toned at worst, minimal rubbing to extremities. Volume contains scholarly apparatus in the form of, e.g., notes, index, and bibliography. xx [1], 2-230 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. . . . Fine/Fine,
