William Makepeace Thackeray is best known for his satirical works looking at English society, most especially for 'Vanity Fair&apos. He tended to be quite savage in his attacks on society, publishing under various pseudonyms in his youth to avoid personal criticism. With a frontispiece, one plate, and numerous in-text illustrations. With sixteen pages of publisher's adverts to the rear dated November 1862. With a half-title. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light rubbing to the joints.
