. In 8vo, silk bound, pp. 496 with 135 plates. Reprint from the original edition of 1697. The Cistercian monk Fra' Silvio, in the world Paolo Boccone, was born in 1633. He was such a famous botanist that Linnaeus dedicated to him a plant species.He travelled all over Europe making observations of great scientific interest. In Germany he was nicknamed, the "Plinio of our century", and he can e considered as one of the promoters of the development of Europeanbotanical science. He died in the 1704 leaving a large patrimony of ideas, studies and naturalistic researches for the future generations.
