Engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 315 x 189 mm., platemark 302 x 179 mm. Engraved by Gerard Valck after the painting by Adriaen van der Werff. This print was published in: Larrey, Isaac de. Histoire d'Angleterre, d'Ecosse, et d'Irlande. Rotterdam: Reinier Leers, 1697. Gerard Valck (Amsterdam 1652-1726) was a North-Netherlandish son of a skipper. He was a reproductive engraver, draughtsperson, publisher and art dealer. He worked in copper engraving, mezzotint and etching. His first dated work is a mezzotint after Guido Reni's Sleeping Cupid, dated 1677. In good condition, margins cropped close to the platemark. Some minor imperfections in the margin edges. Generally clean.
