Vinkeles, Reinier (1741-1816) after Tischbein, Johann Friedrich August (1750-1812) - Mr. JOACHIM RENDORP

Stunning portrait of Joachim Rendorp (1728-1792) in an oval. Rendorp was a great personality in Amsterdam at the end of the eighteenth century and he became for five times burgomaster. He was a cultivated man with a keen interest in the arts. In his collection were paintings by Gabriel Metsu, Emanuel de Witte, Nicolaes Berchem and flower still lives by Jan van Huysum. He had himself and his wife portrayed by great artists of the time like Jean-Bapiste Perronneau, Jean-Étienne Liotard and Johann Friedrich August Tischbein from whom portrait the present engraving is copied. This engraving was pressed on satin, which makes this item very special and rare. It might have been a gift to Rendorp himself. It was sold as lot. 1443 by De vries in Amsterdam in 1869 Titled on the bottom: 'MR.
