A place as as mysterious in 2025 as it was in 1893. NOT a reprint. A fortress and people in rivalry with the Incas. There homes were round like the Celts in Europe as the Inca were rectangle. The fortified town of Kuelap was said to be as wildly founded by Carthage or be Celtic warriors. Otherwise the Spanish were as mystified as the various pre-Columbian tribes in east and west of the northern Ande Mountains. The mysticism, the Coca, Smoke and Witchcraft were a mystery as well.Many detailed drawings and clear descriptions by the rational Bandelier. This clean original copy free of underlined was withdrawn from Nebraska State Historical Society. One small closed page tear. Tight binding. Bound in hard boards original edition.
