Paris, Firmin Didot freres, Fevrier, 1836; [iv], iv, 544, [ii]pp. with 104 figures on five plates; contemporary coffee-coloured calf over marbled boards, spine gilt, black leather lettering-piece, richly marbled endpapers and edges; light split along part of rear hinge, but binding firm. A very good copy in a strong but attractive contemporary binding of this rare and important descriptive catalogue. The largest section, comprising 1473 items, is of painted vases, mostly Greek, some described in great detail. There are a few neat marginal ink annotations of prices realised, and two very small, but delightful book-plates on the front paste-down, one in red morocco showing an owl and the Greek letters alpha and omega, the other, printed on paper and still miniature, with the name Beguin.
