London, Iliffe and Sons Ltd, 1946-56. Cloth. A scarce, bound collection of one Britain's earliest motorcycle magazines. Known colloquially as 'The Blue 'un', this magazine is profusely illustrated with examples of motorcycles. Including an issue regarding the breaking of the land speed record. With details on triumph spring wheel, images of the Bicycle and Motorcycle show in Earls Court to volume V, and innovative cycles such as third wheel caravans. There is one important article in the 1953 issue which shows racer Vic Willoughby on Pendine Beach, where he broke the land speed record. Known as 'The Blue 'un' to distinguish it from its rival publication 'Motor Cycling&apos. August 29th 1946 issue has the first leaf with the editor cited as Arthur B Bourne. Volume 77 No 2264. Comprising multiple weekly issues bound together in uniform volumes all without the original wraps. Some of the weekly issues are bound without advertisements resulting in irregular pagination. Lacking leaves between pages 634 and 637 of Volume IX, most likely adverts. Lacking pages between pages 650 and 673 of volume IX. Lacking pages between pages 600 and 611 of 29 November 1951 issue to volume IX. Lacking pages between 524 and 581 of volume XI. Lacking pages between page 616 and 635 of volume XI. Lacking an issue between the 13th January and 27th January issue. Scarce to have so many issues of this magazine together. In uniform full cloth bindings. Externally, very smart.
