Movable pop-up of window to first leaf is stuck with a closed tear; damage to illustrations of Colonel and Tibs watching TV: both the characters and the rotating wheel of the screen, as well as the illustration of the dalmatians are loose but present; strip illustrating the dalmatians to last leaf of text loose but present. Held in a red cloth-backed chemise with a matching slipcase. Credited under Shogo Hirata, a children's illustrator of a vivid style who has worked on other series such as 'Fantasy Land Fairy Tales', as well as anime adaptations of folk stories. From the library of Eric Sweet, who also produced the chemise and matching slipcase. Sweet was a keen collector of private press and fables. He studied at the Brighton College of Art, before moving to London to work as a lettering artist and typographer for advertising agencies, later becoming the head of Birmingham School of Printing. Sweet's bindings are unique and striking, reflecting the topics of the volumes in distinctive style. In the publisher's pictorial boards.
