Meppel, Jan Lensink, 1718 = [Assen, Provinciaal Bestuur van Drenthe, 1979]. Kunstenaarsboekband van twee soorten perkament en linnen. (123, 41, 64) p. Fotografische herdruk van de editie van 1718. Opvallende kunstenaarsband van de bekende boekbindster en marmeraar (1918-2015), van roodgeverfd schaapsperkament met felrood linnen waarop ongekleurd kalfsperkament is aangebracht. Met goudgestempeld bloemetje op het voorplat en twee gouden grassprieten op de rug. Sneden met bruin besprenkeld. Achterin is met donker krijt een opdracht gekalligrafeerd van Dieuwke Kollewijn aan Wim Kersten, gedateerd '20-11-'82'.

Den Haag, antiquariaat Fokas Holthuis, 2012 [= 2013]. In zilver bedrukt linnen (Boekbinderij Van Dijk). (40) p. 1e druk. Eén van de 15 genummerde luxe-exemplaren, gedrukt op crèmekleurig gevergeerd papier en met de hand gebonden in blauwgrijs linnen door Boekbinderij Van Dijk. Alle luxe-exemplaren zijn op het voorste schutblad verrijkt met een originele, unieke zwart-witfoto van D.A.M. Binnendijk van omstreeks 1933, met daaronder een originele handtekening van Binnendijk. Op de binnenzijde van het voorplat werd een origineel ex libris van Binnendijk geplakt, ontworpen door Helmut Salden. Tien luxe-exemplaren van deze catalogus waren beschikbaar voor de verkoop. Amsterdam, Querido, 1931. Gepolijst groen heelleder, in later vervaardigde schuifhoes met gedrukte titel. Kop verguld. Gezet uit de Lutetia en gedrukt in rood en zwart op getint Hollandsch papier van Pannekoek in een oplage van 340 genummerde exemplaren. Niet afgesneden. (2), 222 p. 1e druk. Rug verkleurd, evenals de schutbladen. Luxe-editie van deze bijzondere roman met vroege homoseksuele aspecten over een zeereis naar IJsland, geschreven door een Haarlemse advocaat met letterkundige belangstelling, enthousiast lid van het gezelschap Teisterbant (met Bomans en Van Deyssel). Dit is Ali Cohens topwerk. 'Eros' is de naam van het schip; de legendarische danser Vaslav Nijinsky speelt er een belangrijke rol in. Fraai vergulde bandstempeling naar kalligrafie van Jan van Krimpen. Eén van slechts enkele (5?) exemplaren in deze vorm. Schitterende typografie, prachtig vergulde heellederen band - een wondermooi boek!

Paris, Calmann-Lévy, 1910. Contemporary binding in full snake leather!! Original cover included. (8), 484 p. One of 60 large paper copies on Hollande. Édition originale. Pasted in is a letter by the author ('Pneumatique') to Jane Catulle Mendès, the widow of Catulle Mendès, written on paper with printed heading of the Hôtel Meurice. The envelope from the Hôtel Meurice is also present. The letter dates from 1910. Just about a failed appointment, but the tone is over the top (as is the handwriting): 'Madame, veuilllez m'infliger le châtiment le plus cruel'. 'Je vous baise, à genoux, les deux mains'. Catulle and Jane Mendès, like D'Annunzio, published several poems in Marinetti's ground-breaking magazine Poesia. "Maybe yes, maybe no". This novel is set in the nascent world of aviation, when daredevil heroes defied gravity with speed. Flying is the counterpoint, but love between a couple and three siblings the melody. It ends helter-skelter with blood and drama.

Printed in an edition of 4000 (+ 80) numbered copies on vergé de Voiron. Unique copy, provided by the artist Salim with no fewer than 91 original pen drawings and watercolours, occasionally signed. During the war years, the Indonesian-born artist Saraochim Salim (1908-2008) worked in the Netherlands, where he provided illustrations for (clandestinely published) books, but he also regularly embellished books for bibliophile patrons with pen drawings and watercolours. In 1946 Salim left for Paris. Henny Berkemeier (1921-2012) learned bookbinding in the late 1930s at the applied arts school in Amsterdam, where she started a bookbinding workshop with her fellow student Meentje Rietema after the war. They regularly exhibited together and when a competition was held in 1951 for a band for Vertellingen van Generzijds by F. Bordewijk, Meentje Rietema won the second prize and Henny Berkemeier the third. In 1953 she emigrated to Malaysia, eventually to Australia. Cf. Petitfils I, 27.

Poëzie van een geliefde achttiende-eeuwse dichter, gevolgd door vertalingen uit het Latijn (Statius en Propertius) en het Italiaans van Tasso.

Breed opgezette, wonderschone prachtuitgave, Romeins genummerd (v). Tekst van Homerus' 'Strijd tussen kikkers en muizen' in het Grieks, colofon in het Latijn. Typografie Jan van Krimpen - het is een van de weinige boeken waarvoor zijn kraakheldere, loepzuivere Griekse letter Antigone gebruikt is. Prachtig gebonden door Malcorps. Van Dijk 182.

Spine area a bit discolored, some wear. The somewhat eccentric poet, also known as Violet Nicholson, committed suicide in 1904 (39 years old) after the death of her husband. (This book was first published in 1905). They lived an adventurous life in British India from 1881. Nice deluxe binding with asymmetrical art nouveau lettering.

Naam in potlood op schutblad ('Gertrud Kijzer-Lanz'). Duitstalige dichtbundel van de in Amsterdam residerende Zwitserse chirurg en grootschalig kunstverzamelaar. De gedichten zijn geïnspireerd door de Xenien van Goethe, tweehonderd jaar na diens geboorte. In een unieke boekband, vervaardigd door Wansink & Daemberg, voor de dochter van de auteur: karton overtrokken met papier, dat met de hand bestempeld is in vijf kleuren in een repetitief floraal motief. Voor het leeslint is hetzelfde papier gebruikt. Met uitzondering van de kop zijn de sneden schoongesneden (de reguliere ingenaaide exemplaren zijn onafgesneden). Van Laar 145 (de enige Nypelsdruk van 1934).
