Football measures about 2 ½ inches at its widest and about 1 ½ inches at its widest diameter. Made out of a hard material coated in either rubber or plastic. Ribbons measure about 2 ½ by 1 inch wide. Stitches and seems printed on. Presumably given as a prize of some sort. GOOD condition. Heavy soiling/staining to about half of the football near the ribbons, with other minor spotting. Ribbons dirty and toned. Minor rippling to the surface of the football. Good .

A recounting of a November 21, 1942 football game between Syracuse University and Rutgers (Syracuse won 12 to 7), recalling the highlights of their "sluggish" win, mentioning Barney Werner and Big Tommy Maines, among others. The letter also mentions the seniors who would not be on the time and refers to the many other players enlisting for service in the war (World War II). Scores from that season present at the top. VERY GOOD condition. Two fold creases present, as issued, with a few other minor wrinkles. Worn mailing envelope present. Very Good .

Undated, but believed early 1900s. 6 3/4 by 4 3/4 inch photo mounted on a dark green pebbled matte board measuring 7 1/2 by 8 inches. Faint blindstamped name of photography studio at the bottom, perhaps G. Jackson, although this is unclear. The photo consists of 10 players, perhaps college age or slightly older, with two older men in the rear, in suits. Three men wear Manchester uniforms, two wear St. Paul uniforms and four are without a named uniform. They are posed in front of a large wraparound porch, seated in the grass. Two men are wearing their gloves, with two other gloves laying in the grass and one glove and two crossed bats laying in the foreground. A catcher's mask is also visible in the grass. No indication as to whether this was a minor league or semi-professional team, a college team or other type of team. The photo is in GOOD condition, slightly toned, and bearing a few tiny stains. A couple of minor scratches present. The matte board is faded, with some soiling. The extremities are rather chipped and bumped, with some superficial loss of matte along the edges. Good .

No indication of photographer or name of the batter. 5 1/2 by 4 inch photo mounted on a 10 by 7 inch cream matte board. Handwritten ink caption pasted below the photo. A rather faded photo of a gentleman in a batting stance, with bat over the shoulder. Several other men standing in the background watching, one apparently leaning on a bat. All dressed in every day clothes, not uniforms. A horse carriage and a few women can be seen in the distant background. GOOD condition. Small diagonal crease to the photo's upper right corner. The matte board is rather browned, with some spotting and staining, from ink and glue. Extremities bumped and scuffed. Minor soiling. Good .

The Bridgehampton Road Races were first held on public roads from 1915 to 1921, with the races revived again starting in 1949. They were held on public roads until 1953, when a crash and death caused the state of New York to ban road racing. The Bridgehampton Road Races Corporation was then formed, creating a private road circuit where races were held again, starting in 1957. This program is presumably for some of the first of the revived road racing, and features biographies of the various drivers, as well as photos and descriptions of the cars being used in the races. Many ads, etc. also present. GOOD+ condition. Minor fading, toning and soiling. Light scuffing and wrinkling. Good .

A promotional postcard for the boxing match/title fight between Muhammad Ali and Leon Spinks. The postcard has an illustration of Leon Spinks jabbing, butterfly net in hand. Two smaller images of Muhammad Ali fly around Spinks, one depicting Ali as a butterfly, the other as a bee. The boxing match occurred on February 15, 1978, with Spinks, having won a gold medal in the 1976 Olympics, billed as the underdog. Spinks won a split decision, making him the Heavyweight Champion, and the only boxer to take the title away from Ali in the ring. GOOD condition. Heavy uneven toning, with some creasing and soiling. Mailing machine stamp and handwritten address on the reverse. Good .

Amherst, No Publisher, 1902. Unbound. Single sheet, folded into fourths. 10 ¼ by 6 ½ inches. A handwritten letter addressed to "Shorty", perhaps the author's sister or relative. Written from Amherst, Massachusetts, the letter relays news and anecdotes of college life, presumably Amherst College. The author mentions getting fired from his job milking cows, and recalls some details of several basketball games, including one against Wesleyan, and one against Trinity, in which he states they "played a regular muckers game, played rough and dirty." Last names of the next year's captain (Ahearn), manager (Snell) and assistant manager (Quigley) are included. Henshaw also described in cursory detail a drunken sleigh ride. GOOD condition. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present. Minor soiling, staining and wrinkling. Writing a bit faded. Good .
